All skill levels are welcome! In this class we practice the original styles of karate preserved in the Shito Ryu system; naha-te, shuri-te, tomari-te and Fujien White Crane kung-fu. Also, many self-defence applications of kata (bunkai & oyo kumite) and supplementary exercises (hojo undo) such as kote kitae, kushin undo and kakie are practiced.

Additionally, we work on old Okinawan methods of blocking and grappling in sui-di and tui-di and we also practice the generation of power through principles of tandem/hara, shinkuchi and muchimi practiced in old-style karate. The class also introduces the practice of okinawan weaponry (kobudo).

Our group runs seminars overseas and locally to suppliment regular training, hosting senior Japanese and Okinawa karate masters. This class is mentored by Japanese karate master Sei Iwasa, 8th Dan - President of WUKO&AD and the Japan Kenshukai Karate Association.

Absolute beginners wanting extra training are free to take additional classes with the Mixed Ages Group (mentioned above).

GETTING STARTED

PRE-SCHOOLERS GROUP 5 - 7 YRS OLD

These classes are very popular so we ask that you reserve your place in advance. Unlike many other clubs, when you sign up for the term you get a free uniform, rank promotion exams, certificates and belts included in one fee! There are no hidden costs. You may join at any time during the term if a space is available. We guarantee a minimum of 10 - 12 weeks of classes each term depending on the length of the term. Taster sessions are sometimes not possible because the classes are usually full of paid members, however parents may visit to watch this class before committing. If space is not available you will be informed and given the option to join the waiting list. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so don't delay to write us!  Please contact us to check availability.

MIXED AGES GROUP +8 YRS OLD

We have a new intake 2 - 3 times yearly, usually at the start of a new school term. New students start off with an initial 3-month period in which they are introduced to the basics of karate and train towards their first belt. After achieving the full-belt students are granted membership and can then enjoy the full benefits of membership such as field trips, competitions, camps, training seminar and much more!

Please contact us to join the waiting list for the next intake.
